Clarion River Adventures, headed by longtime, highly skilled guide and fly angler Kurt Thomas, offers guided trips and fly fishing instruction for any angler(s), male, female or child, beginner through the expert. I guide not only on the Clarion River, but many quality streams in northern and central PA, including our beloved Spring Creek in Centre County. 36 years of fly fishing and 12 years of guiding and instruction experience will keep you in good hands, whether you're hoping to learn the basics, sharpening particular skills, or just hoping to have fun and catch some fish!

Clarion River Adventures offers both specialized and basic instructive and guided trips for individuals, couples, or small groups on the waters of northern and central Pennsylvania. Appearances including graphic presentations which explain fly casting and fishing techniques are available for your group or club. Similar public presentations that deal with the Clarion River, its hatches, and successful fishing techniques are also available. I also offer fly tying instruction for anglers of any skill level. Also enjoyable are guided fly fishing and light-tackle spin fishing for smallmouth and largemouth bass in flowing waters and in area lakes and ponds.

Kurt's greatest strength on the water is his ability to demonstrate and teach methods of effectively presenting our flies and fooling wily wild fish. The focus of his teachings have gradually shifted even more towards this goal: discovering and utilizing simple, controllable, and common-sense casting movements which allow our flies to then drift correctly, and therefore provide the best opportunity to fool the fish on each and every cast. Repeating these ideas for each presentation of our flies will systematically increase our odds of success (and satisfaction and fun, too) all day, every day, no matter where you fish. This applies to total beginners as well as very experienced anglers. Give it a try...you'll be a much happier angler once you see and adopt some or all of these techniques!

Trail systems are numerous in Elk County for hikers, bikers, walkers, and cross-country skiers. Our area is also home to the wild elk herd of Pennsylvania, providing an incredible opportunity to view one of natures most beautiful creatures. Our area is home to the beautiful Bald Eagle, the Osprey, and many other fascinating birds.
