Non-fishing Attractions in our Area of Northern Pennsylvania

 An outdoor paradise exists around the town of Ridgway, Elk County, and there are many other fun things to experience while you are here as our guests. The town of Ridgway sits astride the Clarion River, and is an award winning historic town with a lovely Main Street boasting a wide variety of specialty shops, a fantastic Rail Trail, and attractions such as the Elk County Historical Museum. Historic walking tour brochures are available at the Ridgway Chamber of Commerce / Visitor Center, and other locations. Ridgway is also known as the "Chainsaw Carving Rendevous Capital of the World". Bird Watching

It is common to see Bald Eagles, Osprey, other birds of prey, waterfowl, songbirds and many other interesting birds near the Clarion River watershed.

Wild Elk Herd

Elk County boasts one of the largest wild Elk herds in the eastern United States. There are outstanding elk and other wildlife viewing opportunities available in the Benezette area. Take a scenic drive on the Elk Scenic Highway and search for these majestic creatures! Visit PA Great Outdoors to learn more about elk viewing just 30 minutes from Ridgway.
The Wild and Scenic Clarion River

Designated as a National Wild and Scenic River, the Clarion River headwaters arise in Mckean County, and runs for more than 100 miles until it joins the Allegheny River south of Foxburg. It is a wonderful river for fishing, canoeing and kayaking, and equipment rentals are available at Love's Canoe Livery in downtown Ridgway. A great place for wildlife viewing, you are likely to spy bald eagles and many other varieties of birds, deer, river otters, raccoons, beavers, turtles, and fish.

Clarion-Little Toby Rail Trail

This outstanding rails-to-trails project is an 18-mile recreational trail between the towns of Ridgway and Brockway. It meanders along the Clarion River and Little Toby Creek, past numerous ghost towns, a swinging bridge, and beautiful Pennsylvania wilderness scenery. It is surface with crushed limestone and is almost completely flat, and is dedicated to non-motorized use only. You can rent mountain bikes and canoes at Love's Canoe Rental and Sales. You are just a few minutes from the wonders of Allegheny National Forest, with an endless variety of hiking, biking and ski trails, scenic drives and spectacular overlooks, reservoirs, rivers and streams, campgrounds, historical sites, and so much more.
